Yes, the day is finally here.  Burj Dubai – The Tallest man made structure ever built in the history is celebrating its opening on 4th Jan 2010. Here are some quick facts about Dubai’s iconic Burj Dubai.

  1. Height: 818 m / 2,684 ft (estimated but till now the building height is kept secret by Emaar). The air temperature is below 8 degrees compare to normal ground temperature
  2. Cost: US$ 1.5 Billion Dollars (AED 4.1 billion)

  4. Designed by : Skidmore, Owings and Merrill of Chicago
  5. Constructed by : South Korea’s Samsung Corporation
  6. Number of Residential Apartments: 1,044
  7. Number of Floors: 160 ( previous was World Trade Center with 110 Floors)
  8. Number of residents to be occupied: Approx: 12,000
  9. Building Construction Start Date: 21 September 2004 concluding another fact that construction 2m/sec
  10. Approximate 2 Billion people will see the historic event for the opening of Burj Dubai
  11. Burj Dubai metro station will be opened on 4th Jan 09 as well with capacity of carrying approx: 11,000 passengers per hour
  12. Burj Dubai’s designer Adrian Smith drew his inspiration from the Hymenocallis flower
  13. Burj Dubai’s  water system will supply an average of approx 946,000 liters per day
  14. The Burj Dubai’s observatory Elevators(double deck cabs) have a capacity for 21 persons on each deck having  world’s longest travel distance from lowest to highest stop.  Elevators will travel at 10 m/sec.
  15. Burj Dubai can be seen by the distance of almost 65 miles away from the spot
  16. Burj Dubai will have approx 200 meters of dancing fountains next to its entrance
  17. The tower will house one of the first Armani hotels
